The Northwest Chargers and Jr. Chargers would like to welcome several coaches to the coaching staff this spring.

Mite 3 - Eric Krywanio: Eric grew up on the Southside where he played his youth hockey with the Chicago Hawks before he went on to play High School hockey at St. Rita High School. Eric played all four years on the varsity team, and in his senior year, St. Rita won the Kennedy Cup and finished 3rd in the state. He then went on to play two years of club hockey for DePaul.

After College, Eric moved to Columbus, Ohio where he coached two years for the Columbus Capitals AA Midgets and one season with the AAA Jr. Blue Jackets Bantam team. The past two seasons Eric has worked with the Renegades Mite program.

Squirt 3 - Pat Gibellina: Pat grew up playing for the Northwest Chargers and Flames Hockey Club.  While playing Bantam and Midget, he also managed to play varsity hockey for 4 years at West Leyden High School, including participation on the 3rd place State team his sophomore year.  After high school, Pat coached for 2 years with the Franklin Park program before stepping away from hockey to pursue a career and family.  This past season, he jumped back into hockey and worked with the Mt Prospect Park District program as an instructor and coach of their Mite team.

Bantam 04's - Ryan Zanon: Ryan grew up playing for the Niles Rangers before playing High School hockey at Notre Dame for four years where he captained their State Championship team and was chosen to play on the Illinois State Showcase team. He then went on to play at Marquette University where he played Division II Club Hockey. While at Marquette, he was captain of their team that went on to play in the National Championships. The past four seasons, Ryan has coached the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams at Notre Dame Prep High School.

Midget U16 #1 - Tim Tarvis (Head Coach): Tarvis played for the Cyclone’s and Leafs’ programs before playing for the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals AAA program. He then moved on to play Juniors in the North American Hockey League and one season in Canada. Tim then transitioned over to Europe where he played two years in Sweden and Germany. While in Europe, he was able to work with the youth hockey programs from both countries, where he was able to pick up a different way to approach the teachings of hockey. Upon his return to the area, Tim started and runs Trigger Hockey Camps.

Midget U16 #1 Greg Shelonzek (Assistant Coach): - Greg played Central States for the Huskies and Leafs programs before going on to play Jr. Hockey in Wisconsin and Minnesota. After Juniors, Greg played at Aurora University and then in Sweden, where he played for one season. After returning to the states, Greg worked as an instructor at the Hudson Wisconsin Hockey Camp as well as being an Assistant coach at the Pee Wee and Bantam levels for the Blues Hockey Club.

Greg also works as an instructor at the Trigger Hockey Camps with Tim.

Midget U16 # 2 - Colin Van Hauter:  Colin played hockey locally as a youth and played for the PREP Combined team for his first two years of High School, where he was voted MVP of their State Championship team. Colin then left Chicago to play for the Omaha Lancers AAA team during his Jr. and Sr. years of high school. He followed that up by playing four years of Jr. Hockey before committing to Division III Hockey at Worcester State University in Massachusetts. The past three years Colin has turned his love for hockey into coaching. He worked as an Assistant Coach for our U18 team and followed that up by coaching our U16's. This past season, he worked as a coach for the Notre Dame High School J.V. team.
