Board of Directors’ Meeting
March 3, 2008

Regular Meeting Minutes

 The regular meeting of the Northwest Chargers Hockey Association was called to order at 7:00pm.  Present at the meeting where Linda Becker, Fuss Fitton, Doug Grupe, Melba Hartman, Scott Larsen, David Miller, Gene Raffone, Lori Sall, Chris Sciortino and Jim Zeman. Not in attendance was Mike Silenzi.  Also in attendance was Ken Smith.

 Old Business: The minutes of the regular meeting held on February 11, 2008 were unanimously approved.

 Hockey Director: Brent was not in attendance at the meeting.

 Communications:  Mike was not in attendance at the meeting.

 Equipment: Dave placed the order for additional try-out pullovers and should receive from Jerry’s no later than Friday, March 7^th.

 Fund Raising: Chris reminded the board that the Annual Player Banquet is on Thursday,

March 6, 2008 at the Avalon Banquets.  Board members should arrive around 5:30pm to assist with final preparations.  Teams will be reminded to bring their banners for display at the banquet.

 We will be holding a 75/25 Raffle during the award presentation. The Charger portion of the Raffle will be donated to the Schlau family.  In addition Melba will be selling wristbands at the banquet also to benefit the Schlau family.

 League: Scott will be putting in a request with SWSL to be one of the host sites for the playoffs. Our first choice would be to host the Bantam or Midget level.

 Registrar:  Lori had no additional information to report.

 Rules & Ethics: Jim had no additional information to report. 

 Scheduler: Ken will be working on the Spring League ice schedule. 

 Tournament: Doug had no additional information to report.

 Treasurer: Russ had no additional information to report.

 New Business:

Spring try outs will start on Sunday, March 10^th.  The board discussed and agreed that if anyone chooses not to pay their full spring payment prior to the tryouts they will be assessed an additional $75.00 tryout fee and the door.  In addition no player will be allowed to skate with their team, until their spring league fees are paid in full.  Players from a different organization, other than the Chargers, will need to show proof of USA Hockey insurance.  Any player who currently does not have US Hockey insurance will need to purchase it at a cost of $32.00

 Melba Hartman reported on the success of Hockey Weekend Across America. There where a total of 14-participants in the Sunday skate and 7-participants in wear your favorite jersey to school.  A collogue of the pictures are being displayed at West Meadows.

 The Chargers will be holding their 1^st Annual Golf Classic on May 22^nd at the Glendale Lakes Golf Club.  Rory Daniels will be assisting the Chargers in coordinating this function.

 The board discussed succession plans for the Presidency position which will be vacated by Linda Becker later this year.  The board will be holding a special meeting on March 31, 2008 to further discuss the position with interested candidates.

 Our next board meeting will be help on April 14, 2008 at the West Meadows Ice Arena. The meeting adjourned at 9:05pm.
